Deegan and Rhys have been reflecting on their Minion goals and setting new ones
Well done Deegan and Rhys for being able to reflect on your goal setting and evaluate how you feel about your achievement of the goal you had set. You were also able to choose by yourselves a great next goal to work towards. It's great to see that you 2 are already learning how to take some responsibility for managing your own learning. Fantastic!!
Look who came to visit Room 5 on Friday
Look who came and sat on my chair on Friday while Room 5 were at the show. What a shame we missed her but it was great to see she made herself comfy on Mrs Scott's chair. Someone in Room 5 recognised our special visitor and we hope she will be able to come back again to visit. Minnie looks very cute!!
The Trophies for Week 8 went to ..........
Charleigh, Deegan and Lucy. Well done for earning the Class Trophies for Week 8. Lucy I have been impressed with your reading and writing and how clearly your read your story out aloud. Deegan when you are focussed you really impress me with what you can do and what an awesome job you did with your rocket writing on Friday. And Charleigh you have been making awesome progress with your reading and writing and have been the Star Rocket Writer for the past few weeks. Well done you three, you make me proud.
A Small Class on Thursday Afternoon
On Thursday afternoon we had a small class as some children were away. After lunch we could all fit on the couch so Mrs Scott took a photo of us. Keep an eye out for our new couch, we made a deal with Zoe and we are doing a swap. Look at these beautiful smiling faces all ready to learn.
Ed and Hilary's Weekend with Naomi
Yet again Ed and Hilary have been spoilt and have been treated to some new experiences. They've never been to watch anyone get their ears pierced. I was a little disappointed with them for drawing on Joseph's face but I guess like all of us it's very hard to be good all the time!! Read about their great weekend below. Thank you so much Naomi, Belinda and Elizabeth for looking after our favourite Teddy Bears.
Charleigh was our 'Star Is Born' this week
Thanks Charleigh for being a wonderful Star is Born for Week 8. We certainly learnt lots about you and you spoke very clearly when sharing your things with the class. I found out about your pets names and I loved the replica doll you have of your Dad. It was very cool!! It took us a long time to write your poem because you had 9 sentences for us to write. Room 5 thinks they've done a good job though!!
The Rocket Writers for Week 8 were.....
Charleigh and Deegan. Well done to you both for being the Rocket Writers of the week. Charleigh wrote the most words and earnt the Leading Rocket Star and Deegan wrote an impressive 12 more words than the previous week to earn the Star for Making the Most Progress. Fantastic work you two. Congratulations Deegan for making enough progress to make it to the 2nd umbrella too. Keep up the great work Room 5 Rocket Writers, you make Mrs Scott very excited on a Friday.

Our letters and digraphs
Use the sheet to practise saying the letter name, the sound the letter makes and think of a word that starts with that sound. You can also show someone at home the action that goes with each sound.
Jed was the Star Is Born in Room 5
Thanks for being the Star Is Born Jed and for sharing all those special things that you had brought along to school. Thanks for teaching Room 5 and especially Mrs Scott all about dinosaurs and for telling us about some dinosaurs that we had never even heard of. Here is your poem that was written for you by Room 5.
The Star Rocket Writers for Week 7 are.......
Well done to Charleigh and Lucy who were the Star Rocket Writers for Week 7. Charleigh got the Star for writing the most words and Lucy got the Star for making the most progress. Great work you two. We now have three rockets on the 2nd umbrella for writing between 31 - 60 words in tens minutes. Who will get their photo taken on Friday?
Check out our Word Rockets hanging from the umbrellas next time you are in Room 5.

We have been writing Character Descriptions
Mrs Scott read us the book
We all really enjoyed it. Then we wrote a character description for Aunty Elsie and here they are.....
The winner of the trophies this week were Charleigh, Lucy and Olivia
Congratulations to these three girls who were awarded the trophies for this week. Their great listening manners and their ability to follow instructions straight away made them easy winners for the week. Well done.
The Star Rocket Writers for Week 6 were Charleigh and Leon
Well done to Charleigh and Leon who were the Star Rocket Writers for this week. They both wrote 49 words so were tied for the Leading Rocket. Leon got the star for Making the Most Progress. He wrote 11 more words than the previous week. Well done Charleigh and Leon, keep up your super rocket writing.
Ed and Hilary's Weekend with Tom
Thanks Tom for taking such great care of Ed and Hilary. They are such lucky bears. You must have played rugby really well in front of Ed and Hilary to get the player of the Day. They will be wanting to go home with you again that's for sure.

A tiring day when you are 5!!
Poor Rhys had a headache and felt tired this afternoon. He was able to sit on the couch and relax but it wasn't long before his eyes shut and he was in a peaceful sleep. Maybe Rhys you are as exhausted as Ed and Hilary after your busy weekend. We managed to get a shot of you sleeping. We hope you are feeling better soon.
Ed and Hilary went to stay with Rhys for the weekend
Thanks Rhys for having Ed and Hilary for the weekend. They certainly had a fun and busy time with you. They have been exhausted since you brought them back to school this morning. I loved reading their adventures from the weekend and could see from the photos that you took very good care of them. Here's Rhys's story from the weekend. Maybe Mrs Scott should be going home for the weekend with the fantastic kids from Room 5 instead of sending the teddies!!!

The sound of the Week for Week 6 is 'th'
The 'th' sound is another digraph. This means there are 2 letters that make 1 sound. Please watch the th clip and when you have finished, comment by writing a 'th' word.
Lucy was our 'Star Is Born'
Lucy was our latest 'Star Is Born'. She was able to tell us about the special things she had brought along to share with the class. We enjoyed writing your poem Lucy. Thanks for being a great 'Star Is Born' and a great role model to your peers.
Let's see the Trophy winners for Week 5
Well done to Lucy and Tom who were awarded the Room 5 class trophies for Week 6. Lucy you were great with your public speaking during the week and Tom I'm impressed with your great listening skills and how you always ask if you are unsure of what it is you are suppose to do. Fantastic effort both of you. Well done. Here you both are holding onto your well deserved Trophies.
