Room 5's Super Reader Cape

We have a new cape for 'Super Reading Power' that Mrs King kindly donated to Room 5. Zoe was the 1st person to earn and wear the cape for the day after her super reading last Thursday. We all thought she looked fantastic and she was feeling very proud wearing it. Well done for being a 'Super Reader Zoe'.

Our letters and sounds for Week 8 of Term 3 are Oo and Uu

This week we are working on the short vowel sounds for o and u e.g. o as in orange and off rather than over and u as as in up and umbrella rather than unicorn or uniform.

We are learning our 'Mihi"

In Room 5 we are learning our own Mihi in order to introduce ourselves. We are also creating a Visual Mihi to support us with this so that we can share our whakapapa with others.

Learning new skills in the nit check

On Thursday we had our hair checked for nits. There were no nits in Room 5 - yipee!! Ava was very observant and took great notice of what Abbie was doing. She felt very confident that when I looked around she was checking Lewis's hair. Great initiative Ava and well done Lewis for joining in and letting her. So cute!!

On Friday we had a turn with the 'Beebot'

On Friday we all enjoyed having a turn with the Beebot - a special little bee robot that lives in Room 5. We had a map of a street and we had to programme the information into the Beebot to get the bee to go where we wanted it to. Some of us took the Beebot to the grocers, the park, the bank and I'm sure he even visited the school. There were other places on the map we could visit to. Have a look at some of us enjoying programming the Beebot.

We've been exploring the playground

We have been exploring the playground during PE. We have been learning how to use the equipment that we may not have used before and taking risks by having a go at different things. We all did a great job of participating on Thursday. Take a look at some of the things we did.
