Isla. Congratulations Isla - you have been really enjoying working on Reading Eggs and staying focussed to complete some of your tasks. What a great photo - its just a shame you have your eyes shut!!

Matific - Our chance to win $50 000 in cash and prizes for our school

Today we began the 1st day of our challenge on Matific. We are competing against other New Zealand and Australian schools to earn $50 000 in cash and prizes. Your child will have had their log in and password sent home if they wish to continue earning themselves stars during this time. If you experience any problems with this at home please let us know. The Rocket Writing Stars for Week 5 of Term 3 were ..........

Opal and Ava. Congratulations to the both of you. Opal got the star for writing the most words and Ava got the star for making the most progress - great job. Ava was very excited as she had never had the star before. One of the students said "why do you always get the star Opal?" and she replied with "because I write lots of words at home and I use the word families".

Our letters and sounds for Week 5 of Term 3 are Ee and Hh

Look at the visitors we had in Room 5 this week

We had a few animal visitors to the class this week. Vinny shared his new piglets with us. They were very cute but a wee bit smelly!! One of the piglets even tried to jump out of the container. Thanks for sharing Vinny.
And Luke's Mum brought in their dog Poppy Olive. We thought she was pretty cool too thanks Luke. It was a shame we didn't get a photo of her lovely face.

The Reading Eggs Trophy for Week 3 went to .........

Xahria. Great work on Reading Eggs Xahria. It was great to see that even though you were unwell you were still working on Reading Eggs while you were at home. Well done.

Our Rocket Writing Stars for Week 2 and 3

Opal was our Star Rocket writer for Week 2 writing the most words. Our star for travelling the quickest by making the most progress was Jared. Well done to the both of you. Awesome word writing.
And the Rocket Writing Stars for Week 3 were Opal and Lucas. Opal was awarded the Star for writing the most words and Luke earn't the star for making the most progress. Superb effort to both of you. You should be proud of your achievements.

Room 5 visited the Town Library for the Book Awards

On Tuesday we went to the Town Library for the NZ Book Awards. We listened to the story 'Fuzzy Doodle" and then we got to make a butterfly. We then completed a scavenger letter hunt. We all enjoyed our visit. Many thanks to the awesome parents who came along and helped us and provided transport.

100 Days at school

To celebrate 100 days at school we were asked to bring along 100 of something. Here's a photo of us holding our 100 things. Unfortunately we did not get a photo of Olivia holding onto the cake with the 100 pebbles. We all thought it tasted yummy too, thanks Olivia.

Awesome effort Opal and Olivia for completing all your sight words. Wow, what a lot of words you are both able to read. Your fish have been caught in the net. PE today was all about soccer

Yah Room 5 loves Thursdays when Helen comes along for PE. We played tag first and then we started learning about soccer. We were practising kicking the ball to a partner. It was hard for lots of us to remember not to use our hands to move the ball.

The Reading Eggs Trophy for Week 1 of Term 3 went to.......

Lucas. Well done Luke for all the great work you have been doing on your Reading Eggs. I could see that you have been very busy and your were carrying on with your learning over the holidays. Well done. It was great to see you very excited about the trophy.

Rocket Writing Stars for Week 1 of Term 3 were.......

Opal and Micah. Congratulations to the both of your for earning the Rocket Writing Stars for the 1st week back of Term 3. Opal got the star for writing the most words - 74 Wow!! Micah and Opal were jointly awarded the Star for making the most progress. They both wrote 11 more words than the previous time. Well done to both of you. You've made your teacher very proud.

Ava brought her pet lamb to Room 5 for a Visit

Thanks Ava for bringing your pet lamb into Room 5 to share. We thought she was very cute, clean and her wool felt very soft to touch.
