Ed and Hilary's weekend with Vinny
Ed and Hilary had a great weekend with Vinny. Have a look at what they got up to.
Thanks for taking great care of them Vinny. They are such lucky bears to be in a class with wonderful children.
The Little Minions have reflected on their goals
It was time to reflect on the goals we had set. We thought about how we were doing towards reaching our goal and then marked how well we thought we had achieved them. Here we are with our reflections and achievements.
Didn't we do well. We have each set a new goal and will be working hard towards achieving them. Check out our Goal Setting Minions on our class door as you enter our class.
Rocket Writing
Every Friday we complete our rocket writing. We have 10 minutes to write as many words as we can. As we learn more words and more sounds our writing rockets are becoming easier. Here is a photo of Deegan and Lucy Rocket writing.
Lucy was our leading rocket this week. Here she is with her Rocket and holding onto to all those words she is able to write - go Lucy!!
This page is Lucy's rocket writing. She is starting to write some word families by using some of the sounds she is learning e.g at, cat, sat. This week one of our sounds was 'h' so she could now write hat. Keep up the great work Room 5. You really are all becoming little writing rockets.
Ed and Hilary - Room 5's Class Bears
Meet Ed and Hilary, Room 5's class bears. They live in the classroom during the week listening and watching all those fabulous learners in Room 5. They are Mrs Scott's 2nd and 3rd pair of eyes.
Each weekend they get to go home with a lucky student from Room 5. Last weekend they went home with Deegan. Here's what they got up to......
Weren't they lucky Bears. This weekend they got to go home with Vinny, which they were very excited about. We will be sharing Vinny's adventures with Ed and Hilary soon.
Look who got the trophy this week!!
Super work Jed earning the trophy for this week. You really deserved it with the effort you are putting into your learning. Well done.

Our Ruma Rima Class Photo
We have taken a new class photo because we have a new person who has joined Room 5 and one of our original class members
has left to go to another school. We now have 6 kids in our class, 3 boys and 3 girls. Here we are......
Fancy that ...... A Kiwi came to visit Room 5!!
Last week Mrs A brought her kiwi 'Smiley' into the class to visit. We thought he was very well behaved because we knew
during the day he would rather be asleep. We wrote some stories about Smiley too. In our class we had also been working
on the letter 'k' and the sound 'k' makes so thanks Mrs A, the kiwi visit was perfect timing. Look at some of the photos
when Smiley was on the mat.
The Little Minions in Room 5 are setting their own goals
We are setting our own goals. We all thought about something we needed to work on and we wrote a goal for this. On
Friday we reflected on our goal to see how we were going. Mrs Scott was really impressed as we have made lots of progress
towards achieving our goals. Olivia was able to set her goal as well. You can see us as Minions, saying our goal on the
back of our classroom door.
Rocket Writing
Every Friday we do our Rocket Writing. We have 10 minutes to write as many words as we can. We have to know how to spell the words as we can not look around the room and copy words from the walls. Deegan was our Rocket Star this week. He was able to write the most words in 10 minutes. We are learning to (WALT) to use the sounds that we know to write words. Mrs Scott reminds us that if we know how to write sounds we can break lots of words up into their sounds and then write the word e.g. 'at - 'a' and then 't' and if we can write 'at' then we can write 'sat' and 'cat' and 'pat'. You may like to practise your Rocket Writing at home. Who's going to have the leading rocket next week?
Look who got the trophy this week!
What a fantastic start Olivia has made to school. She has been listening well, following instructions and coping very well
at being a big school girl. Well done Olivia.

Look who got the trophy this week!!
Lucy worked really hard this week in Roon 5 to take home the trophy. She has been using her listening skills to follow instructions and completing her work to the best of her ability. Lucy was also the leading rocket on Friday by writing the most words in 10 minutes. You're a Star Lucy. Well done.
Rippa Rugby Skills with Nobby
Nobby came to teach Room 4 and Room 5 some rippa rugby skills. We learnt about trying to score a try over the line by staying within the coned area, holding onto the ball the correct way and to keep our feet alive when we were attacking by going forward over the line. We all really enjoyed it. Here are some photos from the afternoon
We wrote about Rippa rugby at writing time.
Vinny wrote - I didn't rip any tags at rippa rugby.
Deegan wrote - My mum came to watch me play rippa rugby.
Jed wrote - I played rippa rugby. I ripped the tag.
Lucy wrote - We needed to line up with the ball.
